This position requires that the individual lead efforts to gather and document requirements with clients, perform data analysis and profiling, perform some data modeling, participate in designing solutions, and supporting development as required.
Duties Include:
• Conduct Discovery phase of development life cycle by gathering business requirements from clients.
• Conduct Definition phase of development life cycle and investigating data sources which support the business requirements. Manages and/or generates prototype data for client validation. Develops requirements documentation and source to target mappings.
• Some involvement with Data Modeling design.
• Provides consultation to ETL designers during development cycle and ensures client data needs are being met.
• Provides input into testing cycle such as test cases and client acceptance testing criteria and validates the delivered data meets clients needs.
• Creates interface agreements and obtains signoff.
• Works with Technical Leads through the development process. May also be involved with external software development deployment efforts as well as conducting post-implementation analysis and support.
• Additionally, drive corporate standards, ensure project team is meeting those standards, and contribute to process improvement.
• Lead in the analysis of probable impact of recommendations and solutions on other IT families and client groups.
• Providing input to estimates to support all phases of development.
Required Qualifications:
• 5+ years experience in IT in large corporate environment.
• 5+ years of requirements coordination/generation.
• 5+ years SQL, data analysis/profiling.
• 3+ years experience implementing a BI/DW Infrastructure on a large scale: ETL, Data Warehouse, Data Marts, and Analytics.
o Understands concepts such as Change Data Capture (CDC), Extract Transform Load (ETL), source to target mappings etc…
o Understands facts, dimensions, and associative entities
• Familiar with Data modeling understanding of modeling methodologies (3rd normal form - Bill Inmon, dimensional modeling – Ralph Kimball, ODS, etc.)
• Ability to work multiple projects simultaneously requiring little direction.
• Experience with requirements management tool.
• Strong communication and leadership skills.
• Telecom experience, knowledge of ordering, network, provisioning, and/or billing systems.
• Project Management experience.
• Demonstrated ability to produce requirements documentation using MS Word, Visio, Power Point and Excel.
• Strong IT SDLP Methodology experience.
• Ability to troubleshoot issues, communicate with Clients and manage project work efforts and teams.
Other Qualifications(not required but worth pointing out):
• Informatica
• Experience with Business Objects, Actuate or COGNOS reporting tools.
• Knowledge of SAS or other statistical packages
• Knowledge of UML..
• Data Modeling Experience with Erwin.
• Experience with Trillium Discovery or Quality (Name and Address Cleansing).
• CMMi experience
• Ability to mentor others.
Education Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a related field or equivalent experience.
