))))Vu & Company(((( Double-jointed fingers and wrists.

Hi everyone - something that has been bothering me for a number of years is the increasing prevalence of students with "double-joints" in fingers and wrists. Has anyone else noticed this? It is a real struggle to teach violin to children with double-joints. If it is not too severe and they are young when they start it is not too bad, but if they are older I find it almost impossible to get them to play correctly. Any ideas?

I need ideas on how to convince a student and her parents that speed is not everything. Intonation, evenness, and control are all things that must be practiced slowly to develop accuracy.
