Client Cloud Infrastructure Engineering prepares virtualization products and technologies for use within the Bank. The team integrates vendor technologies into the Client environment and operating models, such that their use is standardized, secure, highly efficient and cost effective.
The team provides subject matter expertise in relation to virtualization & cloud technologies, engineers the service offerings, working closely with both technology vendors & other platform engineering groups. Our primary customers are the Service Delivery teams who run the managed services that operate on top of the technologies the team engineer.
Your job will be within a team that implements the strategy for virtualization & cloud technology within the organization.
Your job will involve you in the nascent cloud developments within Client, and the transition from a 'traditional' VMWare virtualization environment to a future state that will include multi-vendor private cloud offerings.
Your job is a hands-on technical role, assisting in the engineering & integration of leading edge technologies. You will collaborate with other engineering teams across a wide range of technology areas, and the operational teams that manage the services that are engineered.
Your job will require you to promote new ideas, strategies, technologies and concepts, to improve service quality and reduce costs. You will provide domain-specific expertise and overall software systems leadership and perspective to cross-organization projects, programs, and activities
Basic Qualifications:
You are an experienced engineer with recent significant experience of private cloud deployments. You will have strong knowledge and practical experience of engineering systems for deployment at enterprise scale:
- Broad knowledge of data center, virtualization, and cloud technologies & associated best practices
- Experience working with Virtualization technologies and architectures, based on VMWare ESXi & KVM
- Some coding skills in Python or similar (Perl, Java, etc.), with emphasis on writing modular, scalable code
- Familiarity with API web service design
- Solid Unix skills - Encompassing shell scripting, Perl, Puppet
- Excellent verbal communication, analytical skill and critical thinking
Preferred Qualifications:
- Hands on experience of implementing cloud services, with Openstack preferred
- Experience of HP CSA is highly desirable
PaaS experience is desirable
