Subject: {GRP} RE: World reacts to Morsi death sentence

The democratic West should revise their policy of supporting autocratic and non democratic Kings and Amirs and dictatorial Presidents for their own global interest. The west being upholder of democracy should support only democratic kings and Amirs who transfer power to the elected government as the land belongs to the people not to these looters. Similarly they should support democracy in Egypt and Syria where non elected and self styled Presidents rule. Morsi was elected President of Egypt but was toppled by the army. The death sentence of Morsi should be condemned by the west and the UN should be asked to prevent it. The western media should also uphold democracy and democratic rights of the Arab people. Thanks.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and human rights organisations have reacted angrily to the death sentence penalty for former Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi
World Bulletin/News Desk
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has been one of the first world leaders who has slammed the Egyptian's courts decision in sentencing formed Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi to death.
During an opening ceremony in Sultangazi, Istanbul, President Erdogan said:
"Today has seen another incident. I have just heard the news. Morsi won his presidency with a 52 percent majority vote by the people and he has been given the death sentence. There is a very interesting point of this.
Egypt has returned to ancient Egypt. Egyptians cannot stand against Sisi. The Western coup cannot take a stand against Sisi. They remain onlookers to this situation, and do nothing to stop this.
They themselves only pose together in mutual solidarity with each other".
He called on the international community, mainly the Western world, to take a stance against the Cairo court's decision and criticized their silence over the issue.
"The European Union, the West, have you not abolished the capital punishment? If you have, do you have any sanctions against those who implement it? What are you waiting for? Why are you still silent?" the Turkish president asked.
Erdogan also made a reference to the detrimental effects of the July 2013 military coup by incumbent Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi against the Morsi administration, saying: "What collapsed with the coup is not only the Egyptian democracy, but the whole world that has pinned their hopes on democracy."
"The verdict is invalid and we don't pay attention to it," Osama Morsi told Anadolu Agency via telephone Saturday.
"The president remains steadfast and will continue to defend the people's will until the revolution prevails," he said.
Amnesty International also criticized the court's death penalty, calling it "grossly unfair trials."
In a statement released Saturday, the top human rights body said: "An Egyptian court's recommendation today to sentence ousted President Mohamed Morsi and more than 100 other defendants to death after grossly unfair trials shows the deplorable state of the country's criminal justice system."
Said Boumedouha, Amnesty's deputy director of Middle East and North Africa program, defined the court verdict as "complete disregard for human rights."
"His trials were undermined even before he set foot in the courtroom. The fact that he was held for months incommunicado without judicial oversight and that he didn't have a lawyer to represent him during the investigations makes these trials nothing but a charade based on null and void procedures."

Turkish Deputy Prime Minister Yalcin Akdogan also denounced the Egyptian court's verdict calling it an "heinous" act.
"Handing out a death sentence to an elected president is as heinous as plotting a coup," Akdogan said Saturday during an opening ceremony of an election coordination center in the capital Ankara.
Ousted Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi's son decried the court verdict in Cairo that called for imposing the death penalty on his father on alleged jailbreak charges."Handing out a death sentence to an elected president is as heinous as plotting a coup," Akdogan said Saturday during an opening ceremony of an election coordination center in the capital Ankara.
