The skill set is Oracle DBA, shell scripting, analysis, self-management, ability to follow through, etc.

The candidate needs to be able to:

Be an experienced DBA (not so much SQL Programming).

               Backup and restoring data.

               Moving data from one storage area to another

               Fully knowledgeable (not just read about it) about Partitioning Methods and be able to implement them.

               Fully knowledgeable (not just read about it) about SQL Tuning and how to utilize the available tools outside of Oracle Enterprise Manager.

 

Understand performance tuning, and how database size and structure impacts performance, so that they can ….

identify large objects (tables, MVIEWS, Indexes), analyze those objects and recommend changes to improve performance.

               Identify objects no longer accessed and remove those objects

               Update MVIEW and test code to improve performance    

 

Be capable of writing and updating shell scripts.

 

Be able to work independently, systematically going through our 15TB of database storage to uncover large objects.
