Title of Position: HP Unix Administrator/Unix Administrator (HP)
Location: Plano. TX
Duration: Long Term
Roles and Responsibility / Job Description:
5-7 years' experience in HP Unix
Candidate should be able to mentor offshore resources for the technical work
Remedy Incident/change/problem/knowledge tickets handling
Should have excellent communication and analytical skills
24/7 shift, Should be able to work in offhours on emergency too
Adhering to SLAs
ITIL Processes awareness and adhering to
Mentoring / Training Team Members
Handling tickets / requests
Perform root cause analysis
Troubleshooting technical issues
Defining processes and ensuring that the processes are adhered to
Oversees and is responsible for successful completion of Installation, configuration and migration
Ensure maximum uptime according to the SLA
Understanding of Multi-geo support environment
Responsible for building / maintaining a test environment
Responsible for strategizing a backup plan and test plan for failure scenario
Improves and maintains customer and employee satisfaction
Suggests new technologies and design changes
Monitoring and maintaining SLA requirements by the team members
Planning Backup/Restoration Strategy for 24x7 operation support
Suggesting patches/upgrades to maintain security level
Testing / Auditing/processes as required from time to time
Identify Skill gaps and plan for training / knowledge updating
Assist / Plan / Procedure in Data centre consolidation efforts
Perform H/W & performance tuning and maintenance
Day-to-Day reporting tasks
Vendor co-ordination & followup
Technical Requirements:
File system Management on UNIX flavors HPUX,
Solaris and AIX User administration on HP UX Administration and trouble shooting of CPU and performance Vendor co-ordination for hardware replacement,
Sendmail and syslog daemon administration HP UX,
NAS and NFS file system administration on OS side,
Installing, configuring and maintaining HP-UX servers
Installing, configuring and maintaining IBM AIX Servers (optional & additional knowledge)
Installation and configuration of HA environment using HACMP (Power HA) or Veritas Cluster.
Configuration and administration of Logical volume manager / Veritas Voume Manager.
Patch and Package administration
Printer Administration
Writing shell scripts to accomplish day to day system administration task
Configuring and supporting Domains, LPARs, DLPARs
Administer & configure various FS like JFS, JFS2, VxFS, Pseudo FS
Troubleshooting Hardware and Operating system related issue
Capacity planning and fine tune system for optimal performance
Understanding of SAN and NAS storage and multipathing
Administration of NIS or LDAP environment
Configuring Unix Security baseline
Troubleshooting Hardware and Operating system related issue
Performance Management & fine tuning
Experience in System Fault Tolerance Design, Business continuity and Disaster recovery planning
NIM Administration (Resource Management, Installation, upgrade of AIX servers through NIM)
HMC Administration (Firmware upgrades, HMC upgrade)
VIO Server administration (Allocation of virtual fiber adapter, ethernet adapter and LUNs from VIO server to clients
Adding additional luns to the server HP UX, Oracle installation AIX or Solaris knowledge with be added advantage
