))))Vu & Company(((( Expanding school music program to include instruments

I am curious how long it would take to learn to teach xylophone/glockenspiel to a class of students (likely 3rd grade and above)? I originally trained as an art teacher, and I'm a self-taught musician -- I teach music at a private school and we haven't had an instrument program but are now thinking of adding one. I would prefer xylophones over recorders, and I think the students would enjoy them more as well. But I need to learn how to go about teaching them, and also find the instruments to use. Wondering if anyone has any resource ideas or is able to mentor?
