BI Systems Administrator Overview:
Build, maintain, and restore the operational readiness of the Business Intelligence (BI) platform. Lead the development and maintenance of detailed technical specifications about the BI platform which can be used during functionality and infrastructure builds. Lead and provide technical assistance, support, and guidance to end users of functionality built on the BI platform as well as the development team creating functionality within the BI platform.

BI Systems Administrator Job Responsibilities:
Lead technical projects from inception/design through implementation.
Coordinate vendor relationships and commitments on project involvement/deliverables.
Design and implement systematic approaches and alternatives.
Identify and document business requirements for new development projects and prepare detailed technical specifications from which programs or infrastructure can be built.
Conduct preliminary studies to define needs and determine feasibility.
Confer with clients and analyze business/functional requirements.
Develop procedures for moving program changes, enhancements, etc. into IT production processing.
Understand and relate business/functional requirements to application/infrastructure requirements.
Initiate and lead support activities including problem analysis, technical evaluation, work estimates, and implementation services.
Provide expert technical support for managing application involving diverse platforms.
Coordinate support or project activities with all applicable constituents including customers using the systems, IT staff supporting the systems, vendors/third parties, and/or business managers.
Identify and lead, as assigned, resources and communications to facilitate work completion.
Maintain deep technical and business knowledge of application platforms, industry directions, and trends.
Demonstrate technical proficiency in development and implementation of medium and complex systems and/or computing infrastructure through ability to guide others.
Mentor and train new IT team members to assist them in orientation to policies, procedures, and responsibilities.
Provide ongoing mentorship and support for questions, problems, and ideas.
Serve as an escalation point for system engineers to escalate problems and inquiries requiring further evaluation beyond the associated skill level.
Ability to uncover business challenges and articulate, author documentation and develop custom solutions to solve those challenges.
Represent IT in project and/or business meeting and engagements.
Lead conference calls or visits with vendors/third parties.
Ability to collaborate with and motivate multiple groups toward accomplishing a task.
Plans and performs software installations and/or configurations.
Participates or coordinates testing activities.
Leads implementation activities and post-production support and communications.
Prepares documentation and training materials for applicable constituents including customers using the system, IT staff supporting the systems, vendors/third parties, and/or business managers.

BI Systems Administrator Job Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree in MIS or Computer Science, or equivalent work experience is required
Five (5) or more years of experience working in a medium or large operating environment supporting 1,000,000+ transactions per month is required.
Three (3) of more years of experience supporting a minimum 100 person computing community is required.
Five (5) or more years of experience administering the MicroStrategy BI platform is required.
Five (5) of more years of experience in System engineering and operations experience on Windows platforms is required.
Experience translating business requirements into technical specifications is required.
Troubleshooting advanced MicroStrategy server issues is required.
Automating the monitoring of server activity and error logging for MicroStrategy components is required.
Architecting formal, regularly scheduled backup processes for MicroStrategy components is required.
Implementing connectivity to Enterprise Data Warehouse data sources such as MS SQL and Teradata is preferred
Installing and maintaining MicroStrategy Web, Mobile, and Intelligence servers is required.
Healthcare experience is preferred.
Applicable technical certifications preferred. i.e. MicroStrategy Certified Developer (MCD), MicroStrategy Certified Engineer (MCE), MCSE, MCSD, MCDBA, CISSP is preferred.
Understanding of IIS 7.0 modular architecture and workloads.
Experience Securing Web sites and Web application pools.
Advanced Experience of Troubleshooting Web servers, sites and applications.
Mastery of scripting tools and command line tools.
Tuning IIS to improve performance.
Working knowledge of Java and C#.
Plan a high-availability solution that uses clustering services.
Plan a high-availability solution that uses Network Load Balancing.
Advanced troubleshooting and problem solving capabilities.
SQL and HTML Development experience.
Communication skills both written and verbal.
Understanding of the MicroStrategy licensing model.
Knowledge and understanding of IT environmental controls and development methodologies.
Knowledge of managed health care preferred.
Understand business modeling terminology.
