The birds were photographed by German born photographer Tobias Bernard in a stream that runs through farmland in New Zealand. Tobias attracted the birds with a handful of duck-feed pellets before positioning himself with his camera below the surface of the water. He lay stationary in the 4ft-deep stream - rooted down with a heavy weight belt and holding his breath to take the photos.
