Position: Software QA Analyst
Location: San Francisco, CA
Start: ASAP
Duration: 6 month contract (possible extension)
No Remote/No Telecomm (Must be onsite)
Job summary:
Will be responsible for ensuring the quality of clients enterprise systems by analyzing project documentation, and by planning and executing software testing activities for highly-complex, multi-system applications. You will also be responsible estimating and ensuring adherence to schedules and in providing technical guidance to other members of the QA team.
Essential functions:
- Using structured QA methodology, analyzes requirements and technical documents, creates and socializes test strategies and test estimates, creates and reviews complex test cases, scripts and plans to support specific software testing objectives.
- Executes or reviews test results to ensure software meets business needs and expectations.
- Strong knowledge of client's enterprise systems.
- Defines and tracks quality assurance metrics including defect and test execution metrics.
- Collects and analyzes data for software process evaluation and improvements, and integrates them into business processes to address the business needs.
- Documents all problems and assists in their resolution.
- Delivers quality process training to technical staff and acts as an internal quality consultant to advise or influence business or technical partners.
- Performs quality audits across the various IT functions to ensure quality standards, procedures, and methodologies are being followed.
Secondary functions:
- Defines testing methodology, processes and standard deliverables.
- Supports continuous improvement processes, analyzing problems and recommending actions to resolve or improve.
- Keeps current with testing and quality trends and techniques, tools and processes.
- Works with QA Management on strategic initiatives
Minimum requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Information Systems, or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years experience in applications software testing, preferably in a business-driven environment.
- 2+ years testing eCommerce applications
- Experience with various SDLC models, including Waterfall, V-Model and Agile
- Strong knowledge of QA processes, tools, and formal testing methodologies is essential
- Ability to lead multiple testing projects
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to quickly learn new applications, tools and environments.
- Experience with defect tracking systems, test case management and automated test tools
- Attention to detail and thoroughness.
- Excellent problem solving, trouble shooting and analytical skills
- Basic knowledge of MQ, Data Mirror, Oracle, SQL and HTML preferred
- Knowledge of supply chain and retail management software a plus
- Self-motivated with the ability to effectively manage multiple tasks
